Teaching Council Associate

Secondment Opportunity with the Teaching Council

The Teaching Council is the professional standards body for teaching in Ireland. Its core aim is to promote and regulate the profession of teaching in Ireland. Currently, there are over 94,000 primary, post-primary and further education teachers registered with the Teaching Council.   The Council is currently seeking applications from registered teachers interested in being seconded to a team of associates who will work on a full-time basis to support the Council in its work. The Teaching Council is seeking suitably experienced and qualified people to fill this dynamic role.

Head of Initial Teacher Education and Induction

The Teaching Council is the statutory professional standards body for teaching in Ireland.  Its core aim is to promote and regulate the profession of teaching.  Currently, there are over 94,000 primary, post-primary and further education teachers registered with the Council.  The Council's offices are based in Maynooth, Co. Kildare.

The Teaching Council is inviting applications for the post of Head of Initial Teacher Education and Induction. The Head of Initial Teacher Education and Induction will be a member of the senior management team and will report to the Director.  He/She will have responsibility for: the ongoing development and delivery of the Council's statutory role as the professional accrediting body for teaching qualifications in Ireland; the assessment of out-of-State teaching qualifications in accordance with the provisions of the relevant EU Directive; and the ongoing development, implementation and quality assurance of Droichead, the Council's policy for inducting newly qualified teachers into the profession.
