To become a primary, post-primary and further education teacher in Ireland, you must complete a programme of initial teacher education (ITE).
Induction (Droichead)
Droichead is an integrated professional induction framework for newly qualified teachers (NQTs). The main objective of the Droichead process is to support the professional learning of NQTs during the induction phase, thus laying the foundations for subsequent professional growth and learning for the next phase of their career.
Lifelong Professional Learning (Cosán)
Cosán is a framework developed to guide, support and recognise teachers’ continuing professional learning following their induction process.
Research
Promoting a culture of shared learning in which research and leading practice is encouraged and applied within the classroom setting is an important objective for the Teaching Council as set out in its Research Strategy.
The CROÍ (Collaboration and Research for Ongoing Innovation) Research Series was developed in order to support a culture of shared learning and evidence-informed practice.
