Vetting

Vetting involves a 2-stage application process. Here is the step by step breakdown.

Re-vetting

Registered teachers are required to re-vet every three years on a scheduled basis.

Accessing your vetting disclosure

To access your vetting disclosure (result), you need to log in to your My Registration account.

FAQs for teachers accessing their disclosures

Teachers can view and share their vetting disclosure (result document) electronically with current and prospective school employers.

Overseas Vetting

If you have lived outside of the Republic of Ireland for a cumulative period of 12 months or more after the age of 18, you must provide a copy of your police clearance for each country, except for already registered teachers.

Fit and Proper Person Assessments

As a part of our role, the Teaching Council assesses if an applicant is a ‘fit and proper person’ to join or to be renewed on the Register of Teachers.
