Fit and Proper Person Assessments

As a part of our role, the Teaching Council assesses if an applicant is a ‘fit and proper person’ to join or to be renewed on the Register of Teachers.

Our Fit and Proper Assessment Panel is responsible for making these assessments.

Can I appeal the Panel’s decision?

As an applicant, you can ask the Registration Committee Review Group to review the Panel’s decision if the Panel:

Refuses to register an applicant for registration
Refuses to renew a teacher’s registration
Imposes conditions on the applicant’s / teacher’s registration.
