If you are a teacher

If you are a teacher, the Teaching Council administers vetting for you and assesses the vetting disclosure (result) to establish if a teacher can be registered.

The role of the school is to receive and assess the vetting disclosure when employing teachers.

If you are not a teacher

If you are not a teacher but work in or are associated with a school, you should contact the principal. The principal will contact the relevant authority on your behalf. This could include the diocesan office or management body.

How does vetting work?

The vetting process will produce:

  • A vetting disclosure (result) outlining the details of any criminal record relating to the person being vetted, and
  • A statement of specified information, if any, which the Chief Bureau Officer believes should be disclosed.
